Saving Money On 10 Allure Best Of Beauty 2020 Winners

If you are a beauty lover then you have probably heard of the Allure Best Of Beauty Awards that started in the mid 90’s. These awards were launched by the American women’s magazine, Allure, to help their readers choose among the many makeup, skincare, and haircare products that are launched each year. Winners in each category are awarded the much coveted “best of beauty” seal which they can advertise on their products and include as part of their brand. Since the introduction of these awards, the categories have grown tremendously with winners now being identified in such areas as “clean” beauty or luxury splurges. As a beauty fanatic, I eagerly…

10 Canadian Beauty Brands BUT Are They Canadian Friendly?

Canada has become the birthplace to some pretty notable beauty brands. From MAC Cosmetics to Bite Beauty, there is a lot to be proud of as Canadians when it comes to the beauty industry. This pride, however, can easily be replaced with disappointment when you discover that these Canadian beauty brands have websites that do not ship to Canada or that make shipping to Canada painful and expensive. It simply doesn’t make sense given the brands’ Canadian roots. Personally, I only shop from beauty companies or retailers that I consider “Canadian friendly.” What exactly does that mean? It means that these companies ship to Canada, charge in Canadian dollars, have…

Why Shop Beauty at Hudson’s Bay

If you have been watching the news you have probably seen a story or two on the financial struggles of Canada’s iconic department store, Hudson’s Bay. As a result of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, they have recently closed stores, reduced the footprint and size of certain locations, and laid off hundreds of employees. Recent comments from top executives, however, indicate that they will survive this hardship and plan to be around for centuries to come. One of their strategies, like many companies, is to focus on their online operations especially given that they are one of Canada’s largest e-commerce businesses. I am a big fan of Hudson’s Bay.…

If you have been following this blog then you know that there are so many different avenues to score a deal or discount when shopping for makeup and skincare products. Nine out of ten beauty purchases I make are discounted either through a sale that I was anticipating or by being resourceful and exhausting what I call the Beauty Deal Checklist. Below is that very list which includes all the ways to potentially save on your next beauty purchase. Is there an upcoming sale? Most beauty brands have a pretty consistent annual sales schedule. Family & Friends Sales, Black Friday Sales, Boxing Days Sales, End of Season Sales, etc. typically…

    Making Money With Swagbucks

The world of cashback sites has taken off with dozens of new companies popping up and offering monetary rewards for consumers just to shop online. The concept is simple. Instead of going directly to an online shop, you access the retailer through a link from a cashback website. You still receive your item directly from the retailer, but you also get some money from the cashback website which is often in the form of a percentage of the price you paid. There are so many cashback sites available today. Most people are familiar with Rakuten (formerly Ebates) but if you search cashback sites in Canada you will get a number of results…

PART 2: My Favourite Products – How Much Did I Save?

Welcome to the second part of my Favourite Products series. You will be shocked at the total savings once you get to the bottom of the page! Side note: I am not affiliated with any brands. I simply love these products and they work for me. Understanding the Shelf Life Of Beauty Products

I am definitely guilty of stocking up when it comes to skincare products. I have a walk-in closet with shelves dedicated solely to my beauty purchases and that doesn’t even include makeup! With that said, I am very cognizant of when I purchased every product and when I should consume them. This is especially the case once I open a product. Shelf life drastically changes as soon as the seal is broken and that is when the real clock starts ticking. Here is a cheat sheet that you can use to help you understand the shelf life of beauty products so you can responsibly stock-up the next time a great…
