Some people love Christmas or their birthday but my favourite day of the year is National Lipstick Day! This day falls on July 29th every year and you can count on beauty brands stepping up with some exciting deals. It is believed that Huda Kattan, founder of Huda Beauty, started this day back in 2006. The goal was simple – wear your favourite shade loud and proud. National Lipstick Day has come a long way from 2006. Each year the lippie deals get more plentiful and more generous. There is no better time of the year to fulfill your lipstick wishlist! Here is a roundup of all the 2023 National Lipstick Day deals in Canada and whether they are worth your dollars. Anastasia Beverly Hills

I am little confused in how ABH could possibly proclaim this year’s National Lipstick Day deal their best offer ever. Last year they offered a straight out buy one, get one free which makes this year’s deal one of the worst. I say pass on this one and wait for one of their sitewide sales.

Armani Beauty

As far as the 2023 National Lipstick Day deals go, Armani Beauty is not winning any awards. It feels as though their deals get worse with each passing year. Historically they have offered 25% off on two lipsticks and this year you need to buy three to just get a measly 20% off. I say wait until Black Friday where they at least run a 20-25% off sitewide sale.

Bobbi Brown

A lot of the 2023 National Lipstick Day deals are a step up over last year and this Bobbi Brown one is no exception. Last year they offered 30% off on this exact same line and this year they have upped their game with a 40% off deal. Both their Crushed Lip Collection and this discount are top notch so I say jump all over it.

Clarins

While I have only seen Clarins offer a gift-with-purchase during National Lipstick Day, I am not quite ready to celebrate this deal. I am a big Clarins fan but 20% off doesn’t get me excited anymore. Clarins is known to run random sales throughout the year and they have offered better discounts on their lip products. This one is a pass for me.

Clinique

I have a couple of thoughts about this sale. Last year this sale excluded Clinique’s iconic Almost Lipstick in Black Honey but this year that is not the case. They did, however, increase the sale price from $18 last year to $19 this year. Not a big deal as you are still saving over 30% off on their lippies. The best part is that Clinique offers free shipping with no minimums. I call this deal a win.

Fent y Beauty

This deal is a hard pass from me. Fenty is known to run some generous sales and this one hardly gets my attention. You also need to spend $115 CDN just to get the free lip balm which is makes this deal even more unappealing. I am a Fenty fan but this promo is getting no love from me.

Fresh

The Fresh Lip Treatments are quite iconic and this is one of the best deals I have ever seen offered on them. They have made the deal even more enticing with a free lip balm if you buy three lip products. I crunched the numbers and this means you are paying $60 for four lip balms when one costs $33. It seems like a no brainer to me and you will also qualify for free shipping. Thank you Fresh!

Huda Beauty

Huda Beauty has been doing this exact same sale for the past three years and it is a winner! I have taken advantage of this deal multiple times in the past which explains my Huda lippie collection. This buy one, get one free deal is equivalent to a 50% off sale and you can’t really complain about that. You do need to spend $70 to get free shipping but it shouldn’t be too hard with deal!

Laura Mercier

The Laura Mercier Canadian website has been around for a couple of years and I will say that their deals keep getting better with time. Two years ago they offered a free lipstick with a $75 purchase. Last year they offered 50% off one of their lipsticks for only one day. This year they were one of the first to announce their deal and it is not too shabby. 25% off is pretty much as steep as they go with discounts except for Black Friday and Cyber Monday where they offer 30% off.

Lise Watier

This discount is certainly a step up from last year’s 20% off but I am not quite ready to celebrate. Lise Watier runs a sale on their website almost every other week and you can definitely get their lippies for way more than 25% off. They literally just wrapped up a 30% off sitewide sale yesterday so this deal doesn’t really make sense.

MAC Cosmetics

Yes, yes, and yes! I think a lot of people would agree that MAC has some of the best lipsticks in the game and right now is a great time to shop for them. I wait for this deal all year long although history has shown that they do repeat it during Black Friday. My only gripe is that last year MAC went from free shipping on all orders to free shipping over $35. This means you will need to buy three of their lippies to avoid those darn shipping fees.

Milani

Unfortunately, Milani can do no right in my books. While I think this deal is decent, I find their free shipping minimum of $85 ridiculous for a drugstore brand. This is especially the case when compared to the $35 minimum for the U.S. I refuse to shop their website even though I like their lipsticks and don’t mind this deal.

NARS

Is it mean to say that NARS’ deals bore me? Can they do something better than 20% off? The only positive thing I will say is that this is leaps and bounds better than last year’s gift-with-purchase deal that they offered. I love NARS lippies but I say skip this deal. You can get up to 30% off during Black Friday on their site which makes that a better time to shop.

Sephora

Let’s start with what I like about this sale. The 50% off isn’t too shabby and it includes 36 different lip products which is double the selection from last year. It also includes brands like Gucci which I haven’t seen marked down by 50% off ever. Now on to what I don’t love about this sale. Most of the formulas are matte which is very limiting if you prefer a more balmy lippie. It also includes quite a few liquid lipsticks which are not as trendy as they used to be. I wouldn’t call this sale a win or a loss.

Shiseido

Shiseido and NARS may be owned by the same parent company but clearly Shiseido gets all the better deals. It wasn’t always this way and last year Shiseido disappointed with a measly gift-with-purchase. I recently picked up some Shiseido Lipsticks at a warehouse sale and the quality was quite impressive. I do want to point out that this is as deep as the discounts go for Shiseido. They have offered 30% off during Black Friday but that came with a minimum spend of over $200.

Tarte Cosmetics

Tarte just wrapped up their Friends & Family Sale where their entire site was 30% off. It would have been the perfect opportunity to pick up some of their lippies without having to commit to three. Regardless, I think this is a great deal and it shouldn’t be too hard to find three interesting lip products on their site. This deal even includes some new releases. Finally, they are offering free shipping with this promo but arguably you would have hit the free shipping minimum either way. Well played Tarte.

YSL Beauty

I have good news and bad news when it comes to this deal. The good news is that 50% off YSL lipsticks is the best deal I have seen from the brand when it comes to celebrating lipsticks. The bad news is that the deal is limited to three shades of one lipstick formula. Also, one of them is already sold out and National Lipstick Day is still almost a week away. They did throw in a gift-with-purchase to sweeten the deal but even if you buy all three shades of this discounted lipstick, you still won’t hit the minimum to get the gift. I love YSL lippies but I would pass on this one.
