Deal Or No Deal: Are These 2022 Singles’ Day Beauty Deals Worth It?
November 11th marks a lucrative shopping event called Singles’ Day which is giving Black Friday a run for its money. Singles’ Day was started as an unofficial celebration to help people show their pride in being single. It was founded in the 1990s in China and has been adopted in North America over the past five years. This day has quickly grown into a fun, unofficial holiday around the globe. It is a day meant for single people to treat themselves and splurge on goods they wouldn’t otherwise buy. Retailers have jumped all over this holiday with deals and promotions to incentivize consumers to shop for themselves. Here is a full list of all the Singles’ Day beauty deals in Canada and whether they are worth your money. This list will be updated daily as new deals are announced.
La Roche Posay
NO DEAL. La Roche Posay isn’t known for their deep discounts but I say hold out for Black Friday where they are known to at least offer 20% off. It is also a bit disappointing that last year they offered a generous four piece gift with the 11% off and this year the only gift is a makeup pouch. #fail
Vichy
NO DEAL. Vichy runs a 20-25% off sale almost monthly so I wouldn’t exactly classify this as one of the better Single’s Day beauty deals. I can almost guarantee they will have a much better offer in time for Black Friday. In addition, you can probably count on a gift-with-purchase.
Kiehl’s
DEAL. Last year, Kiehl’s offered a 20-25% off sale during this exact same period. In fact, this is identical to what they offered for Black Friday last year. It is great to see Kiehl’s stepping it up and this deal is worth your money.
Clinique
NO DEAL. Known for their frequent 30% off sales, this 20% off promotion is tough to celebrate. They have sweetened the deal though with a gift-with-purchase and a free full size product based on how much you spend. If you are a fan of Clinique then I would probably hold out for their Black Friday 30% off sale.
Sisley Paris
NO DEAL. Sisley Paris just recently wrapped up a 20% off sale so nothing about this offer is calling my name. You can also hold off for Black Friday where they are known to offer as much as 40% off some of their lines.
YSL Beauty
DEAL. As far as discounts go, 20% off is pretty decent for YSL. They have run a 25% off sale during Black Friday but it was limited to a steep spend threshold of over $150. Their gifts-with-purchase are always appealing and this one is no different. I would say this deal is a win.
Lancôme
DEAL. Unless you are Lancôme Rewards Member, 25% off is a great deal for Lancôme. Historically they would only offer this discount with a steep spend minimum. I encourage Lancôme lovers, however, to sign up for their Rewards. They offer deals as amazing as 30% off with an additional 10% for members multiple times a year.
Shiseido
NO DEAL. Shiseido is advertising this offer as their biggest gift yet but it hardly gets me excited. I say wait for Black Friday where they will likely offer 20-30% off depending on the product/line and still offer a gift-with-purchase.
Shu Uemura
NO DEAL. This may be a shocker considering this is quite an enticing promotion. Well, Shu Uemura knows how to run a sale and you can expect a 30-35% off Black Friday deal depending on how much you spend. They have some of the best discounts in the beauty deal world!
SkinCeuticals
NO DEAL. This isn’t the most appealing offer as far as Singles’ Day beauty deals go. I am a SkinCeuticals junkie but there is no denying that their products are pricey. I have yet to see a sale on their website and their promotions are limited to gifts. There are a lot of approved vendors that offer discounts and that is where I buy my products. These are sites like Beautysense and Boutique Skin Envie.
Moroccanoil
NO DEAL. Moroccanoil definitely disappoints when it comes to deals. There is nothing more frustrating than brands that run generous sales on their U.S. website but offer nothing on their Canadian site. My advice would be to pick up your Moroccanoil favourites at Sephora during their biannual VIB Sales.
Biotherm
DEAL. You can just look at this promotion and know you are getting a great deal. There is no spending limit to get the 30% off and there are some very generous gifts-with-purchase if you hit certain thresholds. This is one of the best Singles’ Day beauty deals that I have seen so far.
Smashbox
DEAL. Smashbox is always so generous with their promotions and run a 30% off sale multiple times a year. While their Singles’ Day deal is limited to certain items, you can score as much as 70% off certain products. It is worth scrolling through the $11 items and seeing if anything catches your eye.
Kérastase
DEAL. Normally an 11% off deal wouldn’t get me too excited but Kérastase almost never runs a sitewide sale. Their Singles’ Day deal last year was limited to a gift-with-purchase of a brush and a travel item. This year’s promotion is an improvement and hopefully a sign of more of these sales to come!
Clé de Peau
DEAL. It is hard to get excited about 15% off but when you look at Clé de Peau’s history, this deal can be considered meaningful. Last year they only offered 11% off on a $300 purchase so it looks like they are loosening the purse strings a bit. I have seen them off 20% off before but the spending threshold was $500 which makes this Singles’ Day deal a better offer.
Elizabeth Arden
NO DEAL. Elizabeth Arden just wrapped up a 25% off sitewide sale which seems to be their standard. They run these sales multiple times a year. I would wait for Black Friday where you are guaranteed to get a better discount. Not the most lucrative offer as far as Singles’ Day beauty deals go.
Armani Beauty
DEAL. Last year, you needed to spend $150 to get the 20% off at Armani Beauty so this year’s deal is a step up. Also, it is highly unlikely that they will be offering anything more than 20% off with no minimums for Black Friday. You may see 25% off but that will come with a minimum spend requirement of $175 or more.
Bobbi Brown
DEAL. If this year is anything like last year then Bobbi Brown will be announcing a different Singles’ Day promotion each day this week leading up to the big day. The deals are usually quite lucrative with discounts as deep as 40% off and/or BOGO promotions on different products. It is worth give their site a quick once-over, especially if you are a Bobbi Brown fan.
NYX Cosmetics
NO DEAL. While this 20% off sale beats the discount they offered last year, it is still significantly less than the Black Friday promotions that I have seen NYX run. I have seen discounts as steep as 30-40% off so I say wait a few weeks to score a better deal.
Bumble and bumble.
NO DEAL. On top of running generous flash sales throughout the year, you can bank on Bumble and bumble to at least offer up a 25%+ discount in time for Black Friday. I say wait a bit longer for a better deal.
Lise Watier
DEAL. This year’s Lise Watier sale is a huge improvement over their Singles’ Day deal last year. In fact, it is on par with their typical Black Friday offering. My suggestion is to give it a go if you are looking to place an order with this brand. This is a decent deal as far as Singles’ Day beauty deals go.
Laura Mercier
DEAL. 20% off is as good as it gets for Laura Mercier, however, if you subscribe to their emails they do often provide subscribers with a 25% off discount in advance. Keep that in mind for their upcoming Black Friday sale. Check out my post on Beauty Brand Emails Worth Your Subscription for more of these tidbits.
Darphin
NO DEAL. I am a Darphin fan but I typically wait until Black Friday to make my purchases. Historically they have run a 30% off sitewide sale along with a gift-with-purchase which is usually a full size product. I would pass on on this Singles’ Day Spa Gift and wait for the real goodies!
Origins
NO DEAL. They say that very few things in life are guaranteed aside from death and taxes. Well, I can almost guarantee that Origins will be running a 30% off sale in time for Black Friday and that they will bring their ‘A’ game when it comes to gifts-with-purchase. Origins fans should sit tight because bigger things are coming.
BABOR
DEAL. Although BABOR is known for running great 30-35% off sitewide sales, you can’t argue that a BOGO isn’t a lucrative deal. If you love BABOR Ampoules then you can essentially get two sets for 50% off and that is win in my books.
Grande Cosmetics
DEAL. It pains me to say that this 20% off sale is considered a deal but I have yet to see anything better than 20% off from Grande Cosmetics. I am curious to see what they have to offer for Black Friday but I am not holding my breath.
Murad
NO DEAL. If you were to spend exactly $50 at Murad then I would say this is a deal because I haven’t see them offer anything steeper than a 20% discount. Realistically speaking though there is very little on that site for $50 so you are better off waiting for their Black Friday deal.
iHerb
DEAL. I am a huge fan of iHerb because 99% of the time their regular prices are lower than any other retailer out there. Throw in a deal like this and you actually saving closer to 30-40% off. While I have seen them run sales as high as 26% off, I would still call this a great deal that is worth a browse.
Tarte Cosmetics
DEAL. While this sale is limited to certain items, most are 50% off including the infamous Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm. Tarte is know for running exceptional sitewide sales as high as 35% off. I didn’t think they would top that with their Singles’ Day deal but boy did they prove me wrong.
Pat McGrath
DEAL. I am not a fan of spending thresholds to get a discount but this $135 threshold to get 30% off is a step up for Pat McGrath. Last Black Friday, you needed to spend over $200 to get 30% off and they even offered 35% off but the minimum was over $300. This year’s Singles’ Day deal seems more reasonable and I am hoping they come to the table with something even better for Black Friday.
