About the L’Oréal Beauty Outlet
The L’Oréal Beauty Outlet started 20 years ago in Montreal as a physical store with the main objective of giving a second chance to L’Oréal products and avoiding their destruction. A few years later, the Toronto location was introduced. The stores were open twice a year to the public and could be attended by invitation only. With the onset of COVID-19, the Outlet pivoted and created a permanent e-commerce platform for people to shop from home. They have since permanently closed the Toronto location while the Montreal location still exists.
Outlet Perks
The only way to shop online is to sign up and create an account which takes seconds. Without an account you are only able to see products but no pricing. All of the brands that they sell are owned by L’Oréal which means there is a good variety of products for sale. They sell luxury brands like YSL, Lancôme, Urban Decay, and Armani Beauty. They sell professional lines like L’Oréal Professional, Matrix, and Pureology. Most of their brands, however, are drugstore ones like Vichy, Maybelline, NYX, L’Oréal, Garnier, and more.
The real perk of the L’Oréal Beauty Outlet is their prices. Most products are 40-80% off what you would expect them to sell for at other locations. I purchased my first Urban Decay Setting Spray from one of their sales for over 50% off. I recently stockpiled one of my favourite L’Oréal shampoos that retails for $2.40 at the Outlet and almost $8 at Walmart. That is a 70% savings! They also run sales almost weekly that are incremental to their already discounted product.
The biggest drawback of their website is the very limited shade range in makeup products and the shipping minimum of $100 to qualify for free shipping. That is a lot of shampoo to buy to get free shipping!
