Over this past week, both Canada and the U.S. celebrated a statutory holiday. There was Victoria Day in Canada and Memorial Day in the States. As with a lot of holidays, brands from all industries capitalized on the occasion with a major sale or deal. Given the nature of this blog, I obviously had my eye on all the beauty deals out there. One of the things that truly stood out is that there were way more deals in commemoration of Memorial Day than Victoria Day. I wasn’t at all shocked by this given the higher proportion of beauty brands with American roots. What really impressed me, however, were the non-Canadian beauty brands that acknowledged Victoria Deal and offered a deal. As a Canadian consumer, it makes you feel important and levels the playing field in getting the same deals and discounts as our American counterparts. Clinique, a subsidiary of the Estée Lauder Company, made its debut in 1968 as the world’s first allergy tested and 100% fragrance free line in the beauty industry. It first appeared at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York with 117 products. The brand has since grown and today all products are free from parabens, pthalates, and fragrance.
